Human Services Public Hearing: Youth Exiting with Support Act of 2018

The Committee on Human Services will hold a Public Hearing on the following Legislation:

  • B22-954, “Youth Exiting with Support Amendment Act of 2018”

As introduced, this bill requires the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) develop a manual for committed juveniles that would provide information on programs and services necessary for transition out of DYRS. DYRS shall also develop an aftercare and transition services mobile electronic application available to youth upon their commitment to DYRS. It requires the Department of Human Services to provide housing in a Supervised Independent Living Placement Facility as well as assistance to youth 18 and older who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation.

The Committee invites the public to testify or to submit written testimony. Anyone wishing to testify at the hearing should contact the Committee  via email at humanservices@dccouncil.us or at (202) 724-8170, and provide their name, telephone number, organizational affiliation, and title (if  any), by close of business Tuesdav. October 16. 2018. Representatives of organizations will be allowed a maximum of five minutes for oral  testimony, and individuals will be allowed a maximum of three minutes. Witnesses are encouraged to bring twentv single-sided copies of their written testimony.
