Brianne's goals for 2010 for ANC1B
"During the past three years I have had the privilege of not only representing the residents of 1B05 on the Commission but also helping to guide the vision and operations of ANC1B as whole. Having served as Secretary, Vice Chairperson and most recently as Chairperson I worked to bring transparency and efficiency to the representation of U Street, 14th Street, and the Georgia Avenue corridor.
In 2010, I look forward to working with the new leadership of ANC1B to achieve mutual goals for the improvement of our community. I will continue to work hard on behalf of all residents of our community – homeowners, renters, students – and encourage us to work together as people with common interests. I will continue to work on behalf of innovative, responsible business owners who wish to contribute to the smart development of our commercial areas – including the construction of the U Street Hotel. This hotel will bring daytime foot traffic to our boutiques and shops, sustain lunchtime service at our restaurants and make U Street about more than just night life.
Here in 1B05, Meridian Hill, I will continue to listen to my constituents and act swiftly to assist with their day-to-day needs, in partnership with the Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association. Our community has shown over the past three years that we will not tolerate irresponsible property owners and when our requests have not been fulfilled we have responded with orders of condemnation and even demolition. We have worked to keep our treasured Meridian Hill Park safe and clean. We have collaborated with MPD to keep our streets safe. We have welcomed new residents while cherishing the history of our neighborhood. We have reached out to business owners to encourage their participation in daily life.
